GROUP DEPARTURES:
Inka Trail - 4 days:
South America's most famous trek.
The trail start is at "KM 82", follows an old Inca trail with several important Inca ruins and ends at the site of Machu Picchu. From there we take the bus to Agua Calientes (who feels like walking more: 1 hour downhill walking) and after the Machu Picchu visit we return by train/bus back to Ollantaytambo and Cusco.
Reservations: Due to a very high number of visitors the amount of people entering the trail is now limited to 500 per day (still very high: impossible to avoid the hand-in-hand walking feeling). In the high season therefor, reservations have to be made at least 6 weeks in advance to assure your place. In the low season reservations may be made up until 2 weeks before starting the trek.
It is not allowed to hike the Inca Trail without official guidance.

- In case you bring your own walking sticks, these are not allowed to have sharp cone ends as they may damage the trail and ruins.
- The information from the booking should be identical to the information from the passport you are travelling with. If you book the Inca Trail with an old passport and arrive with a new passport at the start of the Inca Trail, you will not be allowed to enter the trail! Make sure you send us up-to-date information in advance. Chances made in advance have a surcharge of US $ 8.
FAQ group departures:
How much is an extra porter for personal gear?
An extra porter for the 4 day trip is US $ 100 and every porter carries up to 12 kg from the client. A porter can be shared among more clients.
What is the best season for trekking the Inca Trail?
In the Cusco region the dry season is from May - October. Although it may rain occasionally in this period, the trails are perfectly usable. In the months November until April there is more rain and it can be muddy and slippery. At the second campsite it can be quite cold at night time. The Inca Trail is closed for maintenance in February.
